Where can one buy Chinese Green Tea in Delhi, India?
And having bought the same, what's the right recipe for brewing it?
You can buy in almost all the "Food Cities" in Delhi
Green tea has health benefits, but does drinking cold green tea example, Lipton, have the same health benefits?
I have been reading so much about green tea benefits, would drinking iced green tea have the same benefits, or a green tea supplement? I do not like the taste of hot tea and would like to get the benefits without drinking the hot tea.
many iced teas are flavored, such as lipton, which makes it not nearly as healthy as green tea supplements or hot tea. if you don't like hot tea, try the supplements.
Which has more health benefits: Green tea or chai tea?
I tried chai tea the other day, and really like the taste (a lot more than green tea). I do usually have 2 to 4 cups of green tea a day.
Is one better than the other, or are they pretty much the same as far as health benefits go?
EGCG is a potent antioxidant
Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), an antioxidant found in green tea, is at least 100 more times more effective than vitamin C and 25 times more effective than vitamin E at protecting cells and DNA from damage believed to be linked to cancer, heart disease and other serious illnesses. This antioxidant has twice the benefits of resveratrol, found in red wine.
Special Benefits of Green Tea
* Reduces high blood pressure. Drinking green tea represses angiotensin II which leads to high blood pressure.
* Lowers blood sugar. Green tea polyphenols and polysaccharides are effective in lowering blood sugar.
* Fights cancer. There have been many studies that have shown that green tea catechins are effective at preventing cancer.
Green tea also boosts the immune system because of its high concentrations of polyphenols and flavenoids.

How do the health effects of green tea and black tea differ?
I keep seeing the health benefits of green tea.
I believe most of these studies are done in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, where green tea is prevelent.
However, I mostly drink black tea.
How does the fermentation of tea affect the antioxidant levels, and other phytochemicals?
Green tea antioxidants consist mainly of small molecules catechins, such as EGCG, ECG EG etc.
During the tea making process, these antioxidants oxidise to form larger molecules such as thearubigin and theaflavin.
The evidence is mixed so far, but there are studies that found catechins to be a lot more powerful than thearubigins and theaflavins.
However, more studies are still needed to understand why green tea has more health benefits than black tea.
Some scientists say there are more green tea health benefits because there are more studies on green tea. It does not make any difference which tea you drink since they are the same species.
Personally, I doubt it. If you look at the proportion of studies showing positive results, green tea do better than black tea.
The problem is that black tea molecules are larger and more difficult to study. So it will be a while before we understand the difference between them.
Why not drink both?
Had anyone heard of Wu-Yi Shan Chinese Weight Loss tea?
I know there is also Wu-Long tea for weight loss, I jut want to know which tea is better: Wu-Yi or Wu-Long. I just need to loose 15 pounds.
I live in Taiwan and can tell you these teas are most likely EXACTLY the same. They are laxatives, nothing more, whatever claims they make in America. In Chinese countries these teas are very popular and normal everyday things for woman, but they are honest about the way they work! They will speed up your bowel movements so food does not sit in the stomach and intestine for as long and therefore it is eliminated before all the calories and nutrients can be absorbed by the body. Notice I said "nutrients"? Taking these teas would be the same as taking a laxative. They are not exactly "healthy" because all they do is make you defecate at an abnormal pace after eating.
But if you want to try it, use the cheaper one. They are all THE SAME, no matter what claims they are making ( and the wu-long tea doesn't even exist for real! it is a bunch of fiberous plant material that promotes bowel movements, but there is no tea leaf called wu-long that I can find and I have asked many of my Chinese adult students and friends!! The closest name is "oo-long" but this is NOT a diet tea!!
I have used these teas (living in Taiwan they are easily accessible) and I find that your body adjusts very quickly and you have to use them more and more often to get them to work and having a natural bowel movement can become almost impossible after long term use of laxatives, so don't plan on using it for more than a month!!
What is the best Chinese Green Tea?
What brand do you think is the best and why? Also is it safe for pregnant women? Thank You for your answer!
No, I'm not Chinese, I'm Mexican and thanks for letting me know it's Japanese!
I like Celestial seasonings. I would drink it in moderation. Think seriously about getting organic green tea and make sure it is FDA approved.
Will the health benefits of Green tea such as weight loss increase with longer steeping time?

Losing weight can improve your sleep, especially if you begin an exercise program. If you’re overweight or obese, then it can help with sleep problems such as sleep apnea
What are the health benefits of Green Tea?

Any advice on green tea and the health benefits would be great!
here are just a few medical conditions in which drinking green tea is reputed to be helpful:
-cancer
-rheumatoid arthritis
-high cholesterol levels
-cardiovascular disease
-infection
-impaired immune function
The secret of green tea lies in the fact it is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant: besides inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, it kills cancer cells without harming healthy tissue. It has also been effective in lowering LDL cholesterol levels, and inhibiting the abnormal formation of blood clots. The latter takes on added importance when you consider that thrombosis (the formation of abnormal blood clots) is the leading cause of heart attacks and stroke.
Green tea can even help prevent tooth decay! Just as its bacteria-destroying abilities can help prevent food poisoning, it can also kill the bacteria that causes dental plaque. Meanwhile, skin preparations.
the only negative side effect reported from drinking green tea is insomnia due to the fact that it contains caffeine. However, green tea contains less caffeine than coffee
Which is better for health, green tea or white tea?
I love both teas and I don't want to lose weight, but want to know which type of tea delivers the best health properties?
You guys are quick to jump on green tea. She was also comparing green tea to white tea. (NOT Black Tea)
A study at Pace University in 2004 showed white tea had more anti-viral and anti-bacterial qualities than green tea. [6]
White tea contains higher catechin levels than green tea due to its lack of processing. [7] Catechin concentration is greatest in fresh, unbroken and unfermented tea leaves. [8] Furthermore, one study examining the composition of brewed green and white teas found that white tea contained more gallic acid, theobromine, and caffeine. [9]
White tea contains less fluoride than green tea, since it is made from young leaves only. [10] The fluoride levels in tea might pose a health risk.
Miracle Cup: The Health Benefits of Green Tea
For 4,000 years, the Chinese people have been using green tea as treatment for everything from headaches to depression.
Today, studies are conducted in Asia and the west in order to produce hard evidence of the health benefits of the tea. In the 1994 edition of the Journal of National Cancer Institute, the results of an epidemiological study stated that one of the health benefits of drinking this tea is that it can reduce the risk of esophageal cancer in Chinese men and women by up to 60%.
The rich presence of catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is the reason why this tea has so much health benefits. A powerful antioxidant, EGCG can not only inhibit the growth of cancer cells but can also destroy them without harming healthy cells.
The University of Purdue has also concluded a research on how a certain compound present in tea can stop cancer cells from growing. Still another health benefit of the tea is its ability to lower down cholesterol levels and improve the ratio between good (HDL) cholesterol and bad (LDL) cholesterol.
The EGCG in tea is a health benefit substance that can lower down LDL cholesterol levels and stop blood from forming abnormal clots (thrombosis), a leading cause of heart attacks and strokes.
herbal tea has more health benefits compared to other Chinese teas like oolong and black tea, all of which come from the plant Camellia sinensis. What makes thi green herbal tea different is the process by which it is made. The tea owes much of its health benefits to how the Camellia sinensis leaves are steamed. The steam process keeps the EGCG health benefit of the tea from oxidizing. With oolong and black teas, however, the leaves are fermented instead of being steamed, thus causing the EGCG health benefit to transform into another less medicinally potent form.
Aside from medicinal value, the tea can also offer other health benefits, especially in the fitness field. Drinking tea can cause a person to burn down more calories. A recent study on the health benefits of tea shows that the drink can help dieters. According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 1999, men who take both caffeine and tea burn down more calories than men who only take caffeine or a placebo.
Another health benefit of tea is its bacteria-destroying properties. The health benefit of tea in this area is that it can help prevent food poisoning and also prevent tooth decay. The substances found in tea kill the bacteria causing food poisoning and those that cause dental plaque to form.
Well known for its countless medicinal and health benefits, this tea is nothing short of a miracle.
