Am I still getting some good health benefits of green tea even though I only drink it once a day?
I have been doing some research and keep coming across people that say 2-3 cups is the only way to get the health benefits. Is this true? I don’t really have the time or like it enough to drink it that many times a day. I just have it at breakfast and thats about it.
Tea is one of those foods whose benefits must be weighed against its risks. Whether you call them tannins, polyphenols, or antioxidants, the chemicals in tea can do harm as well as good. Drink as much as you want to drink, enjoy the taste, and don’t worry about it.
What additives are not allowed to be added with green tea?
I heard that adding milk to green tea is not advisable because it affects the health benefits of green tea. What stuff can and cannot be added to green tea?
in all honesty green tea should just be drunk straight. if you’re going to drink it then you should try to find a tea with a taste you like, otherwise you just wont stick too it, and as a green tea lover myself, it just seems pointless to be drinking it if you don’t enjoy it.
there is actually some debate as to whether milk ‘blocks’ the health benefits of tea. i don’t think adding things like sugar or honey would effect the health benefits directly, but they might neutralise them (i.e. the negative effect of the sugar would make the tea pointless). lemon is another thing people often add.
however all these things are really more suited to black tea not green (lemon might be okay, just depends what you like). most of them would completely over power green tea.
you could look at getting a flavoured green tea, which has flowers or herbs in it, you might like it better if you’re not use to green tea and you would be sure that your drinking something which is still healthy. you could even add things like jasmine, rose, peppermint, lemongrass, cinnamon, etc to a plain green tea and invent your own mix.
Edit- if you must have sweeting, make it honey, it will taste better and the sugar is less refined. try to slowly decrease the amount you use till you don’t need it.
also make sure you follow the brewing instructions for the tea you get. it’s different to black tea, and if you make it wrong it will taste horrible! often you only use half a teaspoon and a few minutes infusion (really high quality special tea like Japanese sencha may also need cooler water).
finally try to find a good quality tea, you will be able to tell the difference as you develop a taste for it. generally what you get in the supermarket is pretty bad (may be okay for starting with). unfortunately you tend to get what you pay for. a good place to try is asian grocers and markets (i prefer japanese tea, but there are lots of great chinese teas as well). and good loose leaf tea is always better then tea bags!
Is it true that green tea can cancel out benefits of vitamins?
I wanna take a green tea supplement and a multivitamin but I don’t want the green tea to cancel out the vitamin health benefits, and I heard it could. Is this true?
I don’t know where you heard this but its not true at all.
Once it gets in your belly, its all the same and your body digests them regardless.
Is white tea as good for you as green tea?
Is white tea as good for you as green tea?
I have been drinking a cup of green tea each day, but I also like the flavor of white tea. Does white tea provide the same health benefits as green tea does?
the only difference between white and green teas are in the processing of the tea leaves. Green teas are more processed (oxidized) than white teas. White tea comes from the youngest tea leaves and therefore, have a more subtle delicate flavor. As far as being as good as green tea, I believe so. Although I’m not positive. Green teas are known to be high in antioxidants and EGCG (catechins). I’ve also read that white teas are as healthy for you, but has more caffeine. That’s still up for debate.
Nevertheless, I like to vary my tea between black, green, and white teas. Just so I don’t get bored with one tea. Note a lot of green and white teas come flavored with fruit or honey or any other flavor (like vanilla). So you’re never gonna be bored with tea choices..I wouldn’t worry which is better, just enjoy all! good luck
does decafinated green tea have the same health benefits as regular green tea?
or are the beneficial elements destroyed in the decafination process?
It’s just as good.
If you’re worried, you can actually decaf your own. All you do is brew it for 30 seconds, dump out the water, and brew normally. about 80% of the caffeine will be removed that way (although green tea has less than black already).
Green tea does have one potential problem: It contains fluoride which is bad for the thyroid. Normally it’s not enough to bother you, but if you have any thyroid problems it will make it worse & should be avoided.
Is drinking one cup of green tea everyday bad for your health?
When I say bad for your health I mean bad for your liver and kidneys.
just one sip can alter your mojo so bad that you could lose your equilibrium for up to 23 nights.
stay away from green tea! seriously. no, for real! im being serious here guys! just do it.

Does Chinese Weight Loss Tea Stunt Growth?
Recently bought Chinese weight loss tea (not green or woolong). I don’t remember the name of it, but it stops the body from absorbing carbs and fat, or makes you go to the washroom directly after meals. Will this stunt your growth?
no..
green tea’s weight loss benefits?
I recently heard that green tea can promote weight loss. Is this true? I know there is a multitude of health benefits from green tea, but i can’t seem to find any documentation as to how green tea can help you lose weight. anyone with some info, personal experience or links would be much appreciated. thanks.
So far it’s shown to improve over-all health, and since there’s no calories it can’t make you gain weight. So with improved over-all health you would normally handle weight better by feeling better and being more active. It’s also said that if you mix milk or cream with it it eliminates the good effects.
