So, is there a case to answer for? This article will look into just some of the supposed benefits that have caused a stir. Tea has been drunk for over 4,000 years and is now the second most consumed drink worldwide, available in numerous blends and flavors. One chief benefit that countless researchers have discovered is in it’s antioxidant properties.

We hear so often about the damage our body cells suffer as a result of damage caused by free-radicals, and how any food or drink with ingredients that act as an antioxidant, are worth taking as part of our daily diet. Green tea fits the bill perfectly as it has a high amount of an antioxidant called Catechins which some research has indicated could reduce the risks of getting strokes, diabetes and even heart disease.

Admirable stuff, and on top of that my own quick research on the internet which I did after hearing about this, produced some interesting details. It was from a Dutch study into drinking tea and the incidence of heart attacks amongst a study group. Their conclusion and findings claimed that there’s a protective effect amongst the group members who drank tea.

But, I had also always been aware of drinks like tea do contain caffeine, and indeed they do but apparently only half as much as drinks like coffee.

In addition, we’re increasingly opting for non-caffeine drinks and decaffeinated teas are readily available. So, as I take nutritional supplements I was intrigued to uncover a high quality product that includes a green tea extract, convenient and simpler for me as I’m often out of the house all day.

This is the easiest way to ensure you’re getting the right amount of green tea and health benefits too.

Its meant to be good for getting your bowels moving and so giving your body a detox. Cleaner bowels mean you can absorb more nutrients from food. Also bacteria in the bowels are flushed out so you don’t get as much flatulence.

    Good Luck!! lol

Scientific research in both Asia and the west is providing hard evidence for the health benefits long associated with drinking green tea. For example, in 1994 the Journal of the National Cancer Institute published the results of an epidemiological study indicating that drinking green tea reduced the risk of esophageal cancer in Chinese men and women by nearly sixty percent. University of Purdue researchers recently concluded that a compound in green tea inhibits the growth of cancer cells. There is also research indicating that drinking green tea lowers total cholesterol levels, as well as improving the ratio of good (HDL) cholesterol to bad (LDL) cholesterol.

To sum up, here are just a few medical conditions in which drinking green tea is reputed to be helpful:

    cancer
    rheumatoid arthritis
    high cholesterol levels
    cariovascular disease
    infection
    impaired immune function

The secret of green tea lies in the fact it is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant: besides inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, it kills cancer cells without harming healthy tissue. It has also been effective in lowering LDL cholesterol levels, and inhibiting the abnormal formation of blood clots. The latter takes on added importance when you consider that thrombosis (the formation of abnormal blood clots) is the leading cause of heart attacks and stroke.

Links are being made between the effects of drinking green tea and the "French Paradox." For years, researchers were puzzled by the fact that, despite consuming a diet rich in fat, the French have a lower incidence of heart disease than Americans. The answer was found to lie in red wine, which contains resveratrol, a polyphenol that limits the negative effects of smoking and a fatty diet. In a 1997 study, researchers from the University of Kansas determined that EGCG is twice as powerful as resveratrol, which may explain why the rate of heart disease among Japanese men is quite low, even though approximately seventy-five percent are smokers.

Why don’t other Chinese teas have similar health-giving properties? Green, oolong, and black teas all come from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. What sets green tea apart is the way it is processed. Green tea leaves are steamed, which prevents the EGCG compound from being oxidized. By contrast, black and oolong tea leaves are made from fermented leaves, which results in the EGCG being converted into other compounds that are not nearly as effective in preventing and fighting various diseases.

Just some info I found about it… I drink green tea everyday and I love it… I brew up a pitcher and cool it and put it in the fridge and then drink it over ice.
You should try Jasmine Green Tea… that has a beautiful fragrence and tastes a lot better than normal green tea and it’s so soothing.

I’ve been drinking green tea for years now because I lived in Japan for 3 years and it’s just the everyday drink like water over there.

If you want a better tasting green tea, try sencha japanese green tea. also, you might want to try loose leaf tea from a reputable store.

benefits of tea are a no calorie drink, EGCG substances, antioxidants, phytochemicals, and it keeps you away from bad drinks.

I love green teas. We have a real Chinese tearoom in our town, run by a Chinese gentleman and his wife. They got me hooked on their different green teas, which are all fresh, loose-leaf teas. They are fabulous, very energizing and refreshing. I wouldn’t drink supermarket sachets of green tea though, they are not nearly as good as the real thing.

Green tea is high in antioxidients which is always good for us. It boosts our metabolism and when our metabolism is higher we burn more calories and feel more alert. It helps with digestion so we get more energy and nutrients from the food we eat. It helps to curb the appitite which is good if you do want to shed a couple of pounds. It has only 30 mg of caffeine which is less than sodas, regular tea, energy drinks and coffee.

It is much lighter in taste than regular tea so if it is not sweetened and you are not use to it then it can taste off. It is basically lightly flavored water at that point that is why many makers use honey and some other flavor too it. Then it is good.
