    Low caffeine green tea?
    I live in Japan and have access to a wide range of green tea, however it is loaded with caffeine. I love green tea, but am sensitive to the effects of caffeine. Does anyone know which kinds of green tea have the same health benefits but are low in caffeine. Surprisingly, the Japanese people I have asked don’t know!
    Caffeine doesn’t affect my stomach. It interacts with some medication I take and makes me anxious/jumpy.

    In America we drink green tea also. I have read on green tea packages that it has significantly less caffeine than black or orange pekoe tea.

    I never though green tea had much caffeine at all. At least thats what green tea makers here project.

    Try drinking it without steeping as long or brewing some tea, pouring it out, adding new hot water, then drinking it after very brief steeping.

    You probably won’t get all the benefits alleged to come from consumption of green tea from a tea that has been decaffeinated. Caffeine is not bad for you, but if you have a sensitivity try drinking your tea only in the morning.

    Ok listen up, Green Tea, coffee/coke, and chocolate all have caffeine but they do not all have the same chemical make up of caffeine. Fact is coffee/coke’s caffeine is the strongest followed by Tea and then chocolate. Heres the deal it is not the caffeine in Green Tea that is affecting your stomach, I have the same problem I can drink a ton of Coffee but Green tea sends me to the restroom every time. I can’t think of what the ingredient is right now but trust me it’s green tea period not caffeine. Could be Gin Seng.

    Are you sure it’s the caffeine? Like another poster, I also can drink lots of coffee but green tea makes me feel ill and it has less caffeine then coffee.

    If it is the caffeine…I found this:

    There is a way of naturally removing caffeine and preserving the health benefits. Steep the tea for 45 seconds in hot water and then pour off the liquid. Next, add more hot water and steep as you normally would to brew a cup of that tea. Up to 80 percent of the caffeine is released in the first infusion of water so only minimal amounts will remain when you add water the second time. This method eliminates very little of the tea’s flavor and aroma."
